The Greek Orthodox Monastery of Saidanagia (also written Saidnaya) was the location of the birthplace of St Anna and the house of her mother Maria (Christ's great grandmother). The monastery is named after the miraculous icon which translates to the Saintly Lady. The icon came from Damascus and miraculously appeared in the monastery. People came and took the icon from the monastery and brought it back to Damascus claiming it had been stolen. The icon returned once again to Jerusalem and is now kept there.
